Skadefryd, Schadenfreude, Sadism.

The Danish word skadefryd is a calque derived from the German word Schadenfreude.

The Danish skadefryd is also a Norwegian word. The word skadefryd may be literally translated as “damage rejoice” and may be defined as joy or pleasure of others’ suffering.

The German word Schadenfreude may be defined as pleasure derived from the misfortunes of others.

I would not be surprised if I were told that persons who get their jollies from skadefryd are also into sadism.

Comments, please. What do you think of all this?
